Mary was the daughter of Erie Everette Ferguson and Frances Elizabeth Hamilton. She was born in Warren, AR (Bradley Co). She had 3 older brothers, Everett (Ed), Charles (Buddy), and John (Hammie). She is survived by her husband, William P. (Bill) Mathis, daughter Paula Langley McCauley and husband Thomas, son Billy and wife Karen of Lonoke, son John and wife Debbie of Little Rock, and daughter Jennifer and husband Reggie, also of Little Rock.
She was a Christian and a member of the Lonoke Baptist Church where she worked 25 years in the nursery, served 35 years in the choir, and taught Sunday School. A child of the King.

LONOKE - William P. Mathis, age 81, died December 30, 2004. He was a member, retired Deacon and Sunday School Director of Lonoke Baptist Church. He was a WWII Navy Veteran, a former District Biologist and Chief of Fisheries of Arkansas Game and Fish Commission, and was retired from U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. Preceding him in death are his parents, Prescott and Lou Mathis; son, Jeff Mathis; daughter, Paula McCauley; brother, Robert Mathis, sister, Maurice Mathis; wives, Wilma Robbins Mathis, Mary Ferguson Mathis and Delilah Chivers Mathis. Survivors include children, Billy Mathis and wife Karen of Lonoke, John Mathis and wife Debbie, Jennifer McClellan and husband Reggie, all of Little Rock, Gwen Pauschert and husband Tommy Joe of Carlisle, and Dr. Michael Standridge of Lonoke; grandchildren, Robert and Melissa Mathis of Lonoke, Allison Mathis of North Little Rock, Elizabeth McCauley and her dad, Thomas McCauley of North Carolina, and Kyle McClellan of Bryant
