George L Baker, 86, of Sherwood, passed away Sept 2, 2009. Born July 10, 1923, in North Little Rock, to George D. and Hattie Carmical Baker, he was a US Army veteran and retired from Ft Roots Veterans Hospital as a physical therapist. He also retired from the Army National Guard and the Pulaski County Sheriff’s Department. Mr. Baker was a member of North Little Rock First Assembly of God, where he was saved in 1972.

George was a 50-year member of the Crescent Masonic Lodge No. 403, a member of the Scimitar Shrine Temple of Little Rock and the Royal Order of Jesters Court No. 12. Wanting his daughters to participate in Shrine activities, he served in the Order of Rainbow for Girls with them, and was the State Rainbow Dad for 1974-1975.

He is survived by his wife of 20 years, Billie Ann Baker, of Sherwood; daughters, Patricia L. Holden and husband Don of Conway and Joan L. Baker of Germany; granddaughters, Donna Rohrscheib and husband Cotton of Conway and Bridgette Wallace and husband Dustin of Oklahoma City; great-grandchildren, Larashleigh, Kavanaugh and Jachin Wallace of Oklahoma City; stepdaughters, Elise A. Bills and husband Jimmy of Savannah, Tenn., and Rita A. Atkins and husband Joe of Franklin, Tenn., and Denise E. McMahon and husband Greg of Sherwood; step-grandchildren, Jeremy, Jayson and Joshuah Bills, Will, Margaret and Ben Atkins, Jared Humphries, Brannon and David Chance McMahon; and step-great-grandchild, Asher Atkins. Also surviving is Eva Baker Hoerz of Conway, the mother of his children to whom he was married for 32 years. George was preceded in death by his parents, brothers and sisters.

Pallbearers will be Don Holden, Jimmy Bills, Greg McMahon, Joe Atkins, Dustin Wallace, Cotton Rohrscheib, Mike Rushing Sr, Mike Rushing Jr and Ed Turner.
