Veteran US Army Signal Corps
December 27, 1912 - March 7, 2009
*Obituary
He served during World War II in the US Army Signal Corps from 1942 to 1946 and was stationed overseas in Britain, France and Germany. He was assigned to the Supreme Headquarters Allied Expeditionary Force recording studios in Paris in 1944-1945. His unit recorded speeches and other activities involving prominent military and civilian figures to include General Dwight D. Eisenhower and Bob Hope. After the war his unit was assigned German occupation duties, including the recording of the Nuremberg war crime trials. He was honorably discharged and returned home in 1946.
Preceded in death by his parents and his wife of 67 years, Virginia R. Thomson who passed away in Mountain View, AR May 2007.
Funeral service will be 10 a.m., Thursday, March 12, 2009 at the First United Methodist Church in Mtn. View with interment in Flatwoods Cemetery.
