Mr. Bryce Scranton, 68, of Hamburg died Saturday, May 14, 2005, at the Ashley County Medical Center in Crossett. A native of Madison County, a resident of Hamburg for the past six years and a former resident of Monticello and Fayetteville, he worked for the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville for several years, and was a Vietnam era veteran of the United States Army. He was a member of the Southside Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Patsy Gee Scranton of Hamburg; two brothers, Densil and Phillip Scranton both of Elkins; two step-sons, Robert Kelley of Hamburg and Ronnie Kelley of Portland; two step-daughters, Nancy Rice of Hamburg and Sandy Towe of Parkdale; nine step-grandchildren and three step-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Clyde and Fern Allison Scranton.
Funeral services were at 2 p.m. Monday, May 16, at the Southside Baptist Church with Revs. Charles Pullin and Eugene Howie officiating. Burial followed services at the the Snyder Cemetery. Pallbearers were Ralph Higginbotham, Douglas Crane, James Higginbotham, Louis Ricks, Glen Lawson, Mike Scranton, W. M. Wigley and Dewayne Brooks. Funeral arrangements were by Jones-Hartshorn Funeral Home of Hamburg.
