Ophra Phillips, 55, of Star City, died Friday while at work on his farm here. He was a farmer.

A son of Mrs. Lena White Phillips of Pine Bluff and the late Jim Phillips, he was born in Star City.

He was a member of the Pleasant Hill Missionary Baptist Church, the B. T. C. and a teacher in the Adult Sunday School Department of the church.

Survivors include his wife, the former Dovie Guess, whom he married in 1941; two daughters, Mrs. Louise Daniels of Warren and Lula Mae Phillips of Star City; two step-sons, Herman Wood of Coos Bay, Oregon and Ed Wood of Hermitage; two brothers, Oscar Phillips of Pine Bluff and Roscoe Phillips of Shreveport; two sisters, Mrs. Velma Skinner of Greenville, Mississippi, and Mrs. Macie Lancaster of Pine Buff; and five grandchildren.

Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church by Reverend Harold Richardson, Reverend Dale Etheridge and Reverend Ray Floyd. Burial will be in the Butler Cemetery by Ralph Robinson & Son Mortuary of Pine Bluff.

Pallbearers will be Raymond Nobles, Jerry Ratterree, Curtis Ratterree, Bobby Hill, Troy Hill, Harold Mann and Ellie Johnson. The Men's Sunday School Class at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church will be an honorary escort.
