NOTE: Joined the Navy at 15. Served six years on the USS Tutuila, a gunboat, on the China Station. Was at Pearl Harbor, 7 December, 1941. Was on the USS Blue when she was sunk at Guadalcanal. Awarded fourteen battle stars from World War II. Retired in 1949. Was Recalled for the Korean War. Retired as a Chief Boatswain Mate.
