SPRINGDALE — Joe "Pops" Murphy, age 61, of Springdale, Ark., died Sunday, Oct. 3, 2010, at Regency Hospital Company in Springdale, Ark. He was born May 30, 1949, in Atoka, Okla., to Willis Gifford Murphy Sr. and Leona Florence (Eubanks) Murphy.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Cathy Fields and Mary Eilerts; a grandson, Alex Murphy; and a nephew, Matthew Scott.

Joe retired from Tyson as a truck driver; he enjoyed hunting, fishing, and hosting family barbeques, and going to grandkids' ballgames.

He is survived by three daughters, Tina Horsey and husband, Stephen, Rhonda Sanders and husband, Donnie, and Misty Murphy, all of Springdale, Ark.; one brother, Willis Murphy Jr. and wife, Peggy, of Springdale, Ark.; four sisters, Phyllis Belt and husband, Larry, of Lowell, Ark., Rita Pinson and husband, Ernest, of Rogers, Ark., and Linda Hopkins and Effie Cousins, both of Springdale, Ark.; seven grandchildren, Cody Murphy, Caleb Horsey, Lauren Horsey, Dakota Tyson, Jarred Sanders, Derrick Sanders and Tasha Sanders; two great-grandchildren, Tavyn and Jada Bledsaw; 14 nieces and nephews; 41 great-nieces and nephews; and a host of friends.

Visitation will be held at Backstrom-Pyeatte Funeral Home in Springdale, from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 6, 2010. Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 7, 2010, at the funeral home, with Pastor Billy Williams of House of Worship Church in Hindsville, Ark., officiating.
