Mrs. Siscily McCrory Cecil, 83, of Hamburg died Saturday, October 23, 1999, at the Arkansas Heart Hospital in Little Rock. A native of Durant, MS, a Hamburg resident since 1965 and a former resident of Montrose, she was a homemaker and a custodian for the Hamburg Public Schools until she retired in 1987. A member of the Promise Land Missionary Baptist Church, she was preceded in death by her husbands, Rev. Jim R. Cecil, in 1992 and Wilson McCrory in 1973; a son, Benjamin McCrory; her parents, Eric and Lucy Slater; a sister, Juanita Richardson; and three grandchildren. Survivors are two sons, Jess McCrory of Somerville, TX, and Roger McCrory of Baschor, KS; two daughters, Della Slaughter of Hamburg and Ella Ferguson of Crossett; two stepsons, Rev. R. E. Cecil of Corsicana, TX, and Norval L. Cecil of Hamburg; three stepdaughters, Ora Bell Keeling of Luann, Ophelia Norris of Strong and Flossie Brown of Madison, MS; 26 grandchildren, 61 great-grandchildren, and 31 great-great-grandchildren. Funeral services were planned for 10 a.m. Tuesday, October 26, in the Promise Land Missionary Baptist Church with Revs. Jeff Alderman, Ferrell Breshears and R. E. Cecil officiating. Pallbearers were to be Earl McCrory, Kenneth Griffin, Norville Cecil, Henry Henslee, Billy Don Cecil and Walter Brown. Burial was to follow services at the Montrose Cemetery, directed by Jones Funeral Home of Hamburg. Memorials may be made to the Promise Land Missionary Baptist Church Building Fund, P. O. Box 30, Hamburg, AR 71646.
