MELBOURNE: Troy Albert Runion, 85, died Wednesday, May 9, 2007, in Mountain Home.
Born Dec. 26, 1921, in Hardenville, Mo., he was the son of Gather Isaac Runion and Alta Irene Corp Runion. During World War II, he worked at Douglas Aircraft as part of the war effort. He was united in marriage to Lela Melton Woods on Jan. 21, 1969, in Kansas City, Kan. He retired from General Motors in Kansas City, Kan., after 31 years of employment. He mowed and maintained several local cemeteries for many years. He was an active member of Melbourne Church of Christ.
Survivors include a son, Larry Runion of Houston; a daughter, Pam McAngus of Hominy, Okla.; a brother, Coy Runion of Gainesville, Mo.; a sister, Pauline Veitti of Leavenworth, Kan.; 14 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; an aunt, Irene Corp of Tecumseh, Mo.; and several nephews and nieces.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; three brothers, Percy Runion, Donald Runion and Marshall Runion; a sister, Earline Kastning; three sons, Dusty Woods, Bob Woods and Terry Woods; and a daughter, Shirley Runion.
The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Melbourne Church of Christ with Finis Brewer officiating. Burial will be in Caney Springs Cemetery under the direction of Eddie's Family Funeral Home in Melbourne.
Pallbearers will be Glen Woods, Justin Smith, Mike Kastning, Bo Woods, Rusty Woods and Jim Haley.
