OXFORD — DeWayne Dale Vest, 48, of Oxford died Tuesday, April 11, 2006, in Batesville.
Born March 1, 1958, in Batesville, he was the son of J.W. Vest and Betty Ann Purcell Bell. He was the owner of Red Cedar Home Construction. He was a born again Christian, an avid hunter and fisherman and rode in many rodeos, having won the World Champion Team Pinning Event in Oklahoma.
Survivors include two sons, Scott Allen Vest of Little Rock and Justin Dale Pollock of Albany, N.Y.; a daughter, Melissa Fell of Heber Springs; two stepsons, John Allen Engelhart and Delbert Lee Engelhart, both of Melbourne; his father of Zion; his mother of Oxford; his stepmother, Alice Vest of Zion; two brothers, David Earl Vest of Germany and Jimmy Quinton Vest of Dayton, Ohio; two sisters, Katherine Vest of Mountain Home and Marcia Bragg of Bryant; his grandmother, Nora Crider of Kansas City, Kan.; three stepsisters, Deborah Rhea Wamock of Mountain Home and Ruthie Ann Sheffield and Rachel Farley, both of Zion; nine grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Earthel and Mamie Vest; and his stepfather, James Bell.
The funeral will be at 6 p.m. Tuesday at Melbourne Community Church with Eric Downs officiating. Burial will be in Combs Cemetery under the direction of Howard Funeral Home of Melbourne.
