Mr. W. S. "Dub" Coody, Jr., 65, of Hamburg died Wednesday, March 14, 2007, at the Medical Center of South Arkansas in El Dorado. A native and lifelong resident of Ashley County, he was a welder who worked for Gwin & Sons for many years. He was a member of the Maplevale Missionary Baptist Church and the West Creek Deer Camp. He loved running dogs and fellowshipping with friends.
He is survived by a son, William S. "Dubbin" Coody, III, and wife Elia of Spearsville, LA; a sister, Katherlene Miller of Hamburg; and five grandchildren, Anna, Aaron and Maggie Coody and Rachel & Joshua Grossman. He was preceded in death by his wife, Maggie Dell Cheesman Coody in 2004; his parents, William & Bessie Sivils Coody and a sister, Maudine Deggs.
Funeral services were at 10 a.m. Saturday, March 17, in the chapel of Jones-Hartshorn Funeral Home in Hamburg with Rev. Jarrod Hawthorne officiating. Burial followed services at the Antioch Cemetery. Pallbearers were Jeff, Steve & Phil Miller, Jackie McCain, Curt Howie, Fortino Chavira, Roger Miller and Steve Otwell. Memorials may be made to the Arkansas Children's Hospital, P. O.
