Manley ‘Junior’ Childers, age 84 of Rose Bud, died Friday in Rose Bud. He was born August 27, 1921 at Sidon, Arkansas to Manley Porter Childers, Sr. and Ada Wallace Childers. Mr. Childers was a Master House Builder and a self-employed entrepreneur with many business ventures. He was a pioneer of the Rose Bud community. He helped incorporate the town of Rose Bud, was a member of the first Rose Bud Town Council, and he and his wife have been members of the Rose Bud First Baptist Church for 60 years, longer than anyone else. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Gwendolyn Childers of Rose Bud, Arkansas; one son, Gary Layne Childers and wife Diana Louise of Fort Worth, Texas; one daughter, Cheryl Ann Childers of Rose Bud, Arkansas; three grandsons, Ricky Dale Childers of Watagua, Texas, Robert Mitchell Childers, Sr. of Watagua, Texas, Shayne Marcus Childers of Hurst, Texas; six great-grandchildren, Sherie Nicole Childers of Bedford, Texas, Alicia Marie Childers of Euless, Texas, Robert Mitchell Childers, Jr. of Watagua, Texas, Christopher Lance Childers of Watagua, Texas; one brother, Horace Alton Childers of Sidon, Arkansas, Christina DeLosanto of Fort Worth, Texas, Travis Childers of Fort Worth, Texas; and a host of loving nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, Manley and Ada Childers; and one brother, Beuford ‘Boots’ Childers. Visitation will be Sunday from 4:00 until 7:00pm at Roller-Daniel Funeral Home. Funeral services will be Monday at 2:00pm at Rose Bud First Baptist Church with interment to follow at Rose Bud Cemetery.
