Reverend Marvin W. Clausen

Reverend Marvin Walter Clausen of Lakeview Arkansas passed away on September 8th, 2011. He was 76 years old.

Born to Martin and Anna Clausen in East St. Louis, Illinois on January 23, 1935, Reverend Clausen spent his early years in Red Bud, Illinois. After graduating from the Seminary at Concordia St. Louis with a Masters of Divinity degree, he was ordained by the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod in 1960. He was pastor of St. Marks Lutheran Church in Garrison, Iowa from 1960-1965. He then served as Pastor in Wisconsin from 1965-1976 at Emmanuel Lutheran Church in White Clay Lake, and Zion Lutheran Church in Zachow. His last fulltime post was at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Dundee, Illinois where he served from 1976-1997.

In retirement Reverend Clausen served as the vacancy pastor at several Lutheran Congregations in Arkansas. He also served intermittently as pastor and teacher at the Themba schools in Dirkesdorp, South Africa from 1999-2008.

Reverend Clausen is survived by his wife, Mary of Lakeview, AR; 1 brother, Vernon and his wife Eleanor of San Antonio, TX ; 1 daughter, Julia Herrera and her husband Edward of San Antonio, TX; 3 sons, Matthew Clausen and his wife Anna of Mundelein, IL, Tom Clausen and his wife Nga of Honolulu, HI, and Ted Clausen of Honolulu, HI; 9 grandchildren, Tristan Clausen, Talon Clausen, Shane Clausen, Alex Herrera, Jessica Herrera, Molly Herrera, Stacie Nguyen, Sandy Nguyen, and Selena Nguyen, and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services conducted by Reverend John Easterling will be held at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Mountain Home on Friday, September 16, at 2:00 pm. Interment will follow in Mountain Home Cemetery.
