Descendant of William Crawford McAlister and Mary (Polly) Webb McAlister. Son of the late George Walker and Naomi (Robertson) McAlister.

Floyd McAlister served in the U.S. Naval Service-Coast Guard during World War II as a member of the Naval Amphibious Forces. Stationed in both England and North Africa, he made thirty-five trips on LST-16 across the English Channel during the Normandy Invasion delivering tanks, trucks, jeeps, and men.

As an educator, he taught biology at both Monticello High School and Drew Central High School and retired from teaching in 1975 after 19 years as guidance counselor at Crossett High School.

He was for some of us, the link to our family's past.
