JOHN R. WATKINS
John R. Watkins, 78, 815 Rozell St., Rogers, died April 30. Born Sept. 18, 1897, at Claremore, Okla., he was the son of James M. and Gertrude Justus Watkins, a member of First Christian Church, and the Pea Ridge Masonic Lodge. A rural mail carrier, he started in Henryetta, Okla., and transferred to Rogers in 1939. He retired in 1963 after 37 and one-half years service. He was a 32nd degree Mason and was of the Fort Smith Consistory.
Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Mary Jo Stubblefield, Irvin, Tex., and Mrs. LaRue Iltis, Pasadena, Tex.; four grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. in the chapel of Burns Funeral Home, Rogers, with the Rev. L. Lincoln Rader officiating. Graveside Masonic rites will be said in Rogers Cemetery and burial will be under the direction of Burns.
