RICHARDS, William Clayborn - The death of W.C. Richards last Thursday night at his home this side of Lowell came as a great surprise to his many Rogers friends, most of whom did not even know that he had been ill. His death was the result of a severe attack of grippe that did not take a serious turn until a day or two before his death. Funeral services were conducted by Rev. E.R. Duggins, pastor of the C.P. church of this city, on Saturday afternoon. The remains were interred in the Dodson cemetery. William Clayborn Richards was born in Nashville, Tenn. November 15th, 1846, being fifty-eight years old at the time of his death. He moved with his father's family to Arkansas at the age of twelve years. He was converted and joined the C.P. church in 1867. He was married Nov. 30th, 1873 to Miss Melissa Dodson and to them were born five children, only two of whom are now living, one daughter, Mrs. Bishop, and one son, Ed. Mrs. Richards died on the 4th day of last August and the sudden death of Mr. Richards last week falls with increased severity upon the bereaved children. Mr. Richards was one of the best known and most respected farmers in this section of the county and the Democrat editors have always found him one of their best friends. His death is a loss to the entire community.
