KERN, Fred - Fred Kern, nine years of age, died Saturday morning of throat trouble at the home of his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. R.T. Pary, three miles west of Springdale. The remains were interred in Bluff cemetery Monday morning. Deceased was the son of Mr. and Mrs. W.J. Kern, the mother having died in December last at Colorado Springs, Colo., since which time the lad, with a sister, has made his home with his grandparents. The father, who resides at Promise City, Iowa, arrived Sunday night too late to see his son. The deceased is also survived by two brothers and one sister who made their home with their father in Iowa. Mr. Kern left for home Wednesday. The lad was ill only two or three days and the exact nature of his complaint is not known.
