Lawrence Reeves Harris, age 85, of Desha, Arkansas passed away Wednesday, June 13, 2007. Born April 27, 1922 at Hutchinson Mountain, Arkansas, he was the son of Earl L. Harris and Nancy E. Brumley Harris.
He was retired from Con-Agra, was a veteran of the US Army having served during World War II and was of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include his wife, Mae Harris of Desha;two step-sons, Tommy Joe Melton of Jamestown and Galen Melton of Desha; one step-daughter, Brenda Evans of Batesvlle; one sister, Lorene Burri of Little Rock; eight step-grandchildren and five step-great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters and one brother.
Graveside services are Saturday, June 16, 10:00 a.m., at the Palestine Cemetery in the Hutchinson Mountain Community with Bro. Keith Alexander officiating.
*Obituary Ronnie Harris, 50, of Batesville died Wednesday, Aug. 2, 2006, in a Batesville Hospital. Born Aug. 27, 1955, in Pleasant Plains, he was the son of John Harris and Betty Brokaw Harris White. He was a U. S. Army veteran and a member of First Faith Pentecostal Church at Cave City.
Survivors include a son, Caleb Harris of Cave City; two daughters, Patricia Downs and Teresa Ann Downs, both of Batesville; his mother of Batesville; seven brothers, Steve Davis, Don Harris and James Harris, all of Batesville, Keith Harris of Siloam Springs, Michael Harris of Pleasant Plains, Ricky Harris of Hutchinson Mountain and Scott Harris of Jamestown; a sister , Lisa Easter of Lowell; two grandhildren, Jimmy Downs and Taylor Downs, both of Batesville; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father; and his wife, Teresa June Harris.
The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Qualls Batesville Funeral Service Chapel with Anthony Howard officiating. Burial will be in Palestine Cemetery in the Hutchinson Mountain community.
Pallbearers will be A. J. Harris, Adam Harris, John Harris, Matthew Harris, Andrew Harris and Michael Harris.
Honorary pallbearers are Matt Strickland, Justin Easter and James Harris. Visitation is Friday evening from 6-8 p.m.
