GEORGE A. TOWNSEND
George A. Townsend, 91, 206 E. Locust St., Rogers, died July 8 in Rogers Memorial Hospital. Born Dec. 15, 1882, in LaRue, Ark., he was the son of Andrew and Lizzie Huckaby Townsend, early Benton County pioneers. He was a farmer and sawmill operator until retiring and moving to Rogers 20 years ago, and was a member of the Baptist Church.
Survivors include one son, Elmer Townsend. Bentonville; two daughters, Mrs. Dovie Payne, Bentonville, and Mrs. Elba Sandwell, Newton, Kan.; four grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Friday at 10 a.m. in Burns Funeral Chapel in Rogers, with Rev. Rex Easterling officiating. Burial will be in Rambo cemetery.
