Calico Rock Progress, Calico Rock, Arkansas, February 29, 1952:
Robert W. Watson Dies Wednesday After Long Illness
Robert W Watson, life-long resident of this county, died at his home at this place, Wednesday afternoon, following an illness of several months. He was 73 years of age.
Mr. Watson had been critically ill since he suffered a stroke some four months ago.
He was born in Izard County and practically all his life was spent in this section. He was engaged at farming until he retired several years ago and moved to Calico Rock. He was united in marriage to Miss Ida Hammond in 1902, to this union five children were born – two girls and three boys. Two of the sons preceded him in death. He was a member of the Church of Christ.
Survivors include his wife; one son, Buck Watson of Calico Rock; two daughters, Mrs. Nannie Adams of Salem, Ark., and Mrs. Linnie Smithson of Calico Rock; seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Funeral services were conducted at Trimble Campground, Thursday afternoon, with the Rev. W. C. Steward of Melbourne officiating. Burial was in Trimble Campground Cemetery, with the Hall Funeral Service in charge.
Pall bearers were: Herman Campbell, Hale Garner, Lowell Sexton, Hubert Russell, Guy Jenkins and Junious Miller.
