Jewel Dean Dixon Crouch, 72, Jacksonville, passed away on April 14, 2010. The daughter of Henry and Dora Campbell Dixon, she was born on June 20, 1937, in England, Ark. She was a flower gardener. She cherished spending time with family and giving baked goods and candies to friends and neighbors. Other hobbies included fishing, quilting, woodworking and playing bluegrass music. “Mama Jewel” coached women’s softball and was one of the few women certified to umpire slow-pitch softball.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Thurman Crouch; her parents; an infant great-grandson, Bentlee Bryan Hill; one sister, Faye Dixon; and one brother, Robert Dixon. Survivors include four daughters, Debbie Osborne, Lisa Guin (Mark) Dora Perez (Sam), Linda Crouch (Hank); two stepsons, James Crouch, Buddy Crouch; four brothers, Kenneth Dixon, Loy Dixon, James Dixon, Billy Dixon; seven sisters, Laverne Massey, Mildred Bays, Betty Kinnison, Mary Thomas, Alice Russell, Barbara Smith, Pam Hipp; 17 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and other family and friends.

Funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, April 16, 2010, at North Crossett First Baptist Church. Interment will follow at Carlock Cemetery under the direction of Jones Funeral Home of Crossett, Ark. (www.jonesservice.com)

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Springhill Baptist CARTI Association of Little Rock, Ark. Special thanks to Dr. Riley and staff at Sherwood Family Clinic, Dr. Jauss and staff and CARTI at Springhill Medical Plaza, Carelink and a special caregiver, her “angel” Elizabeth Ann Hydricks and Baptist Medical Hospice Staff.
