Jess E. Long, age 80 of Batesville died Wednesday September 19, 2007 at the White River Medical Center in Batesville. He was born July 5, 1927 at Timbo, Arkansas to Sam and Dona J. (SSwaim) Long. He was a U. S. Navy Veteran and a retired lineman for the International Brotherhood of Electircal Workers. He was a lifetime member of IBEW and a member of the Mt. Zion Baptist Church at Southside.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Thomas Long and one sister, Inez Long.
Survivors include his wife of 61 years Jackie Long of the home, one daughter, Joyce Keith of Locust Grove, oen sister Ann Starrip of El Campo, Texas, two grandchildren, Rhonda Graham of Locust Grove and Ricky McKibben of Pleasant Plains, seven great grandchildren, one great great granddaughter, several nieces and nephews and a host ofother relatives and friends.
Funeral services will begin Friday September 21, 2007 at 10:00 a.m. at teh Mt. Zion Baptist Church located at Southside with Bro. Kenneth Altom officiating. Burial will follow in the Oaklawn Cemetery located in Batesville with arrangements by Qualls Batesville Funeral Service of Batesville.
Visitation will begin Thursday September 20, 2007 from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m.
Pallbearers will be Charles Massey, Bob Tadlock, Ricky McKibben, William Massey, John Jarik and Bud Keith.
Honorary pallbearers are Charles McCluskey, Tyrone Ramsey, Dan Scott, Dr. Andy Davidson, Dr. BIll Waldrip and Billy Massey.
