SHERIDAN -- Earl D. Mathis, 76, of Sheridan, died Tuesday at his home.
He was born Feb. 18, 1928, at Sheridan, a son of the late Fred Mathis and Hattie Kimmer Mathis. He retired from the Air Force as a master sergeant. He also retired as a maintenance supervisor at the Slattery Building at Shreveport, La. He worked part-time with the South Sheridan/Little Creek Water Association. He was a member of Lost Creek Missionary Baptist Church at Sheridan. He was a member of the Sheridan Masonic Lodge 260 and the Scottish Rite. He was a 32nd degree Mason and a Shriner. Survivors include his wife, Becky Dollar Mathis; three sons, Doug Mathis of Oklahoma and Rick Mathis and Chris Freeman, both of Sheridan; two daughters, Brenda Henley of Florida and Carol Ann Fielding of Grapevine; four brothers, Donnie Mathis of White Hall, Leonard Mathis of Louisiana and Junior Mathis and Herschel Mathis, both of California; 13 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Memorial Gardens Funeral Home at Sheridan with the Rev. Kenneth Click officiating. Burial with full military and Masonic honors will be in Memorial Gardens Cemetery at Sheridan. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
