CALICO ROCK — J.B. McCormack, 85, of Calico Rock died Thursday, June 9, 2011, in Calico Rock.

Born June 22, 1925, in Calico Rock, he was the son of William J. and Jirda E. Hall McCormack. He was united in marriage to Betty Jo Williamson on Oct. 4, 1947. He was a lifelong resident of Izard County. He was a railroad executive and was employed by Missouri-Pacific Railroad and Union Pacific Railroad, retiring after 42 years of employment. He married Mondalyn Caldwell on May 11, 2007. He was of the Methodist faith and was a long-time member of Calico Rock United Methodist Church.

Survivors include his wife; two sons, Dr. John McCormack of West Plains, Mo., and Joe McCormack of Sherwood; a daughter, Kathy Schmelder of Omaha, Neb.; 10 grandchildren, Heather Byrd of St. Louis, Megan York of West Plains, Caitlin McCormack and Casey Schmelder, both of Columbia, Mo., Jessica Schmelder of Des Moines, Iowa, Taylor Schmelder of Omaha, Jeremy McCormack of Clinton, Sarah White of Heber Springs and Brandi McCormack and Joseph McCormack, both of Sherwood; and a great-granddaughter, Willow Byrd of St. Louis.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife; a son, Steve McCormack; three brothers, Donon McCormack, Elza McCormack and Bill McCormack; and two sisters, Mamie Ross and an infant.

The funeral was at 10 a.m. today at United Methodist Church in Calico Rock with Mike Smith and Wayne Wood officiating. Burial was in Staggs Cemetery under the direction of Eddie's Family Funeral Home in Calico Rock.

Pallbearers were Charles Beck, Floyd Hale, Mayo Hale, Victor Jones, Joseph McCormack, Patrick McCormack, Aaron Tucker and Zach White.

Honorary pallbearers were Ed McGehee, Jerry Meinzer and Carroll Wells.

Memorials may be made to United Methodist Building Fund, P.O. Box 369, Calico Rock, AR 72519.
