On June 19, 2009 our Dad, Joseph "Joey" Cannon, age 50, of Perryville, went to be with the Lord. He was a true hero. He passed away doing what he loved and did best. He was a great servant to the communities he lived and worked in.
Joey was born on January 29, 1959 in Perryville, Arkansas, at his parent's home, Bob and Ruby Cannon.
He worked for Coca-Cola for eight years. Joey started doing police work as a reserve officer in 1985. He worked for Morrilton Police Department for 13 years, leaving the Department as Sergeant, taking the position as Assistant Police Chief at Plumerville Police Department. Joey also served for the International Police in Bosnia from June 2000 to May 2001. He was one of three police officers in Conway County to be a part of the Blue Lightining Strike Force with the U.S. Customs.
During his off time Joey loved to survey with his brother-in-law, Bill King and spend time with his grandkids and family.
In addition to his parent's he was preceded in death by one brother, Jerry Cannon.
He is survived by his son, Josh Cannon (Gena) of Plumerville; one daughter, Carrie Cannon (Jack) of Perryville; five grandchildren, Allyson, Anna, Whitney, and Benjamin all of Plumerville, and Jaxon of Perryville; two brothers, Bobby Cannon of Zion, Arkansas, and Billy Cannon of Perry; four sisters, Barbara King (Bill), Debbie Bradley (Preston), Susie Titus (Donnie) all of Perryville, and Lynn Skelton (Bill) of Russellville; several nieces, nephews,great neices and nephews, and a host of fellow workers and friends also survive.
Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, June 23, at Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church at Hill Creek with Bro. Bobby Cannon and Bro. Mike Cantrell officiating. Burial will be at Antioch Cemetery near Perryville by Harris Funeral Home of Morrilton
