Mable Christine Bates, age 86, of Ward passed away Friday, September 10, 2010. She was born on May 23, 1924 in Rose Bud, Arkansas to the late Jeff and Myrtle Walker Bruton. She is also preceded in death by two brothers, Kenneth and Harvey Bruton: great-grandson Taylor Keck and a son-in-law, David Eddy.

She is survived by her loving husband of 62 years, Joe Bates of Ward; one son, Chester (Linda) Myers of Cabot; two daughters, Gladys Eddy of Ward and Barbara Cooper of Cabot; grandchildren, Terry Keck, Rhonda Eddy, Gina Gunderman, Joey Eddy, Johanna Wheetley, Amanda Munoz, Samantha Copeland, Claudia Lamb, Carla Munoz and twelve great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Monday, September 13, 2010 at Moores Cabot Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow at Chapel Hill Memorial Park in Jacksonville. Visitation will be 2-4 p.m. Sunday, September 12, 2010 at the funeral home.
