Amos Dillard Dies Unexpectedly

Amos L. Dillard was born near Violet Hill September 25, 1880 and passed away at his home in the Spring Hill community near Oxford Thursday August 1, 1957 at the age of 76 years, 10 months and 7 days.
Although Mr. Dillard's health had been poor for several years, the end was unexpected and came as a shock to all his family, relatives and friends.
He was married in 1915 to Miss Rebecca Lewis, who survives him in the home. Other survivors are two brothers, Arlin Dillard of the Spring Hill community and Delma Dillard of Violet Hill; four sisters, Mrs. Alma Mason of Brockwell, Mrs. Bertha Powell and Miss Elsie Dillard both of Violet Hill and Mrs. Zella Wright of Wichita, Kansas. He is also survived by numerous nephews, nieces, more distant relatives and many friends.
Mr. Dillard became a Christian in 1930 and since that time has lived consistently in the faith which he professed. He was devoted husband, a loving brother, a true friend and a kind neighbor.
Funeral services conducted by Rev. Remmel Rowden of Oxford where held in the Fairview Baptist Church Saturday afternoon, August 3, after which burial was made in the Violet Hill Cemetery by Crouch Funeral Service of Batesville.
Pallbearers were Clarence Blevins, Noble Rowden, Lawrence Wood, Carl Hames, Wade Blevins and Ernest Blevins.
