Edna Joyce Linn was the daughter of Thomas Grover Linn (1889-1952) and Jennie Elizabeth Howard (1888-1950).

Never married, instead making the Army her career.

Edna rose to the rank of Major in the Army Nurse Corp serving from 1939 to 1964. She was a survivor of the bombing of Pearl Harbor and served throughout World War II; she gave several interviews regarding her survival and experiences during the bombing of Pearl Harbor. She went on to serve in Korea.
