MIDWAY-AREA MAN KILLED IN ACCIDENT

A 42-year-old Midway man was killed and two others injured in a head-on wreck at 2:20PM Friday on Arkansas Highwasy 178 between Midway and Lakeview, about 1.3 miles west of Arkansas Highway 5 North.
The body of Eddie A. Cunningham of 321 Baxter County Road 1082, was taken to Kirby-Boaz Funeral Home.
Joseph D. Lauritson, 66, and Donna L. Lauritson, 67, both of 231 Ridgewood Drive in Lakeview were transported to Baxter Regional Medical Center. A nursing official said they were both admitted and were in stable condition Friday night.
Cunningham, in an 1993, Ford was traveling west on Highway 178. Joseph Lauritson was driving a 2001 Chevrolet with Donna Lauritson as his passenger. They were traveling east on 178 according to a report by Arkansas State Police Cpl. Mark Morton.
Cunningham's vehicle ran off the right side of the road, and he attempted to get back on the highway and lost control of his vehicle, the report stated. The vehicle struck the Lauritson's vehicle head-on.
The road was blocked for a while as first responders used an extrication device to free the driver from one of the wrecked vehicles.
Motorists were backed up in both directions for almost a mile.
Responding to the crash, in addition to the Arkansas State Police, were the Baxter County Sheriff's Department, Grover Township Fire Department, the Midway Fire Department and the Mt. Home Fire Department.
Cunningham did not wear a seat belt, while the Lauritsons did, according to the report
