YELLVILLE - Gene Wesley Harris, 58, of Cotter passed away Monday, May 21, 2007. A graveside service will be 11 a.m. Friday at East Oakland Cemetery in Mountain Home with Jimmy Ray Adams officiating. Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Thursday at Burns Funeral Home Chapel.

He was born Feb. 20, 1949, in Mountain Home, the son of Huey and Willie Mae (Rosenbaum) Harris. Gene was a lifelong resident of Baxter County and was employed as a dump truck driver for 34 years by Guy King & Sons Inc.

He greatly enjoyed hunting and fishing was a member of Oakland Church of Christ.

He is survived by his wife, Patricia (Lewis) Harris of the home; three sons, Jeremy Harris of Live Oak, Fla., Marcus Harris of Cotter and Sgt. Amos Harris of Oak Grove, Ky.; three brothers, Rex Harris of Salem, Junior Harris of Russellville and Austin Harris of Fayetteville; four sisters, Alice Joyner of Lawton, Okla., Luevon Coy of Apache, Okla., Elizabeth Halliday of Yellville and Shirley McDowell of Fayetteville; and six grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother James Harris and sister Mary Castle.

Honorary pallbearers are Bill Johnson, J.C. Marler, Chris Reed, Jason Wilhm, Mark Wilhm, Lawrence Page, Jack Burkhart, Benny Magness, Ronnie Weaver and the co-workers of Guy King & Sons Inc.
