The Springdale News
Friday, January 8, 1897
POLLOCK, Albert S. - B.F. Pollock received a telegram Tuesday announcing the serious illness of his son, Albert, at Marked Tree, Ark. Miss Vira took the afternoon train Tuesday but before she arrived Albert's spirit had passed away, a telegram to that effect having been received Wednesday forenoon. The remains arrived this morning and funeral services were held at the family residence on Holcomb Street at 12 o'clock, being conducted by Rev. Martin, pastor of the South Methodist church. The remains were interred in Bluff Cemetery. A.S. Pollock was about 27 years of age, having been born in Washington county and living most of the time in Springdale. The writer was intimately acquainted with him from his boyhood and we can truthfully say that no more generous, free and open-hearted lad ever lived than he. He was married a few years ago and besides his parents, brothers and sisters, he leaves a wife and three little ones to mourn his death. To all of them The News tenders its sympathy.
