Eugene's parents were James Alonzo and Elizabeth Alice Vining Macon. Vivian the daughter of Elias Lee and Lou Ellen (Lawrence) Lane.


MACON
Eugene Macon was born Dec. 15, 1917 at Pine Bluff the son of the late James and Eliza Vining Macon. He passed away Friday, April 26, 1985 at the Hotel Dieu Hospital in New Orleans, Louisiana after several months illness.

Mr. Macon resided in Imboden, for a number of years and was a 1936 graduate of Sloan-Hendrix High School. He was a veteran of World War II, having served in the U.S. Navy. He moved to New Orleans in 1945.

On Oct. 12, 1947 he was married to the former Vivian Lane. He was the owner and president of the Exectone Systems Company in New Orleans. He served nine years on the Board of Commissioners of the New Orleans Levy Board; was an active member in the Young Men's Business Club; the New Orleans Big Game Fishing Club; the Executive Club of New Orleans; the New Orleans Athletic Club and had served as president of the Producer's Council, Inc. and was an active member of the Elysian Fields United Methodist Church. (Note: he was a deacon).

Survivors are his wife, Vivian Macon of the home; one son, Lonnie Macon of New Orleans; four daughters, Linda Harter of Sugar Grove, Illinois, Patricia Brooks of Newnan, Georgia, Connie Matthews of Harvey, Louisiana and Terry Macon of New Orleans; a sister, Virginia Dent of Conway and seven grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at Higginbotham Funeral Home Chapel at Walnut Ridge with Rev. Jim Thresher officiating. Burial was in Holobaugh Cemetery under the direction of Higginbotham Funeral Service.
