February 15, 1876 - October 6, 1927

James Judson Batts, age 59 years, 7 months, and 21 days, died of heart failure on Oct.6,1927. Mr.Batts' death came very suddenly and while he was engaged as veterinarian on the Magness farm two miles northwest of Forrest City. The deceased was born on Feb.15,1877 in Limetone Co., Alabama, and came to Forrest City in 1890, and had been a resident of Madison township since that time. Mr.Batts is survived by his widow, Mrs.Alma Myers Batts; two sons, J.B.and E.B.Batts; one daughter, Alice Batts; three brothers, T.R., G.M. Batts of this county, and J.C.Batts of Athens, Alabama. Funeral services were conducted Saturday afternoon by Rev.J.S.Burns with interment in the Hughes cemetery. Mr.Batts has gone to his final rest, but is remembered by his family as a loyal and loving husband and father, and by his friends as an honest, upright and worthy citizen. May God in his divine love and tender mercy bless his bereaved wife and loved ones in their tremendous loss. Forrest City Times-Herald Oct.13,1927
