ALLSMAN, Mattie THOMPSON - The sad news reached Gravette on June 20 of the death of Mrs. Harry Allsman, formerly of Gravette. She died in Oklahoma City, Okla. June 19, 1912 at 7:30 p.m. after a very brief illness of apoplexy. The remains were brought to Gravette on Saturday morning and taken to her former home here. Funeral services were conducted by Rev. Crook at the M.E. church, South at 1 o'clock Sunday afternoon; after which the remains were placed in a vault in the I.O.O.F. cemetery. Her relatives present were Jas. Conrad and wife of Scammon, Kan.; Jas. Perkins and wife, Mrs. Thompson of Rogers; the latter being the mother of the deceased; Dan Ricketts of Gentry, Ark.; and Frank Thompson of Osage, Okla.; while two sisters remain in Oklahoma City and two brothers and one sister elsewhere. The bereaved husband and little son, Frank, accompanied the body to Gravette, returning Tuesday afternoon. Mattie Thompson was born at Sampsonville, Ohio Oct. 3, 1875; departed this life June 19, 1912, aged 36 years, 8 months and 17 days. She was baptised by Rev. C.E. Bright into the Methodist church at McCunesville, 0. about the age of 7, being converted 3 years later, and ever lived a sweet, consistent life, ever ready to help those around her who were in distress, and to her family was a most devoted wife and mother; putting her whole life in the welfare of her loved ones. Besides the bereaved husband, mother and other relatives, she leaves five children; Leonard, aged 18; Harry, 15; Helen, 13; Howard, 11; Frank, 7; to mourn their loss. A Friend. ***** In the bereavement of our former fellow citizen, Harry Allsman and family and the several other relatives, the News Herald is joined by a host of people in expressing deep sympathy in the trying ordeal - the untimely death of Mrs. Allsman.
