Capt. W.C. Allen of Cane Hill is shaking hands with friends in the city. Captain Allen is one of the few survivors of that Spartan band that with John Morgan “crowded the road to death as to a festival” in the fearful struggle from 1861 to 1865. Captain Allen relates many incidents of hair breadth escapes and daring deeds done by Morgan and his heroes during the war, especially the capture of Cynthiana, Kentucky.
