McNALLY, Edith J. SHAW - {from The Kansas City Daily Post} Mrs. Edith J. McNally, 42 years old, wife of Dr. J.R. McNally, a veterinarian employed by the federal government in Kansas, this morning was found lying on the basement floor of their home, 340 North Twenty-first street, by her three small children who had come home from school to get their lunch. Two self-inflicted bullet wounds were found, one in the temple and one in a breast. When the children called the neighbors it was found she still retained life. She was taken to St. Margarets hospital where physicians expressed doubt of her recovery. Despondency over ill health was the reason ascribed by her husband for the act. ***** Mrs. McNally was a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J.G. Shaw of Gravette. The wounds proved fatal and the body was brought here Monday morning for burial; the funeral was conducted from the Shaw residence Tuesday by Eld. J.E. Teaney of the Christian church, assisted by Rev. R.L. Jackson. Interment at the I.O.O.F. cemetery. Besides parents and husband, Mrs. McNally leaves three children, Raymond, 13; Harry, 11; and Paul, 6; also 2 brothers, James Shaw, Manhattan, Kan. and Robert, Riverton, Kan. Mrs. McNally {Edith Shawl was born in Elyria, 0. Nov. 29, 1874 and was aged 42 years, 9 months and 17 days. She was a member of the Presbyterian church and a faithful and loving wife and mother. A host of friends unite in offering condolence to the bereaved relatives in their sad trial.
