Evening Shade-Sharp Cemetery
Sharp County,
Arkansas

This is an historic cemetery. Evening Shade was the first county seat of Sharp County, Arkansas. Sharp County was named for Ephraim Sharp and his brother William H. Sharp. Ephraim designated the village Evening Shade in recognition of the welcome shade that trees provided for the village post office. Some years later the County Seat was changed to Ash Flat due to it's central location in the county. Evening Shade became well known due to the TV show of that name. This is the cemetery that was used by the early residents and is still in use today.
