BELLA VISTA — Dr. Roy E. Ayres, 80, of Bella Vista died Aug. 18, 2000, at Bates Medical Center in Bentonville. He was born Sept. 20, 1919, in Weatherford, Okla. to P.J. and Alma Ayres. He was an Army veteran, serving in World War II and the Korean War, and retiring as a lieutenant colonel in the Army Reserve. He received his doctor's degree at Oklahoma State University; where he was a member of the Posse Club, Alumni Association and T.R.O.A. He moved 15 years ago from Stillwater, Okla., to Bella Vista. He was a member of the Bella Vista Christian Church, the Bella Vista Crime Watch and served on the board for Neighbors Who Care. He enjoyed golfing and fishing.
Survivors include his wife, Fran Ayres of Bella Vista; two sons, Joe Ayres of Tulsa, Okla., and Patrick Ayres of Purcell, Okla.; four daughters, Kay Moore of Bristow, Okla., Cathy Silvers of Maysville, Ky., Jan Ackerman of Broken Arrow, Okla., and Barbara Osteen of Tulsa; one brother, Arnold Ayres of Piedmont, Okla,; one sister, Elsie DeFehr of Weatherford, Okla.; 14 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren.
Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Bella Vista Christian Church with the Rev. Don Evans officiating. Arrangements are by Bella Vista Funeral Home.
