Per his sister Dinna, he was not a Vietnam Veteran, but was a Veteran of the US Navy

Ricky Lawrence, 44, of Calico Rock

Ricky Lawrence of Calico Rock died Tuesday (Jan. 5, 1999) at Batesville. He was 44.

Mr. Lawrence was born Dec. 10, 1954, at Baltimore to Marie Bertha French and Jim Simpson Sr. He married Katy Traversie Lawrence on Sept. 17, 1982, and worked in construction with aluminum siding. He moved to Calico Rock six years ago. He served with the U.S. Navy in Vietnam, and enjoyed hunting and fishing.

He is survived by his wife; his parents of Baltimore; one son, Clem Lawrence of the home; two daughters, Little Rikki Lawrence and Little Katy Lawrence of the home; one step-daughter, Katie Conrad of Atchison, Kan.; one brother, Jim Simpson, Jr. of Calico Rock; three sisters, Lynda Bereczky of Old Joe, Donna Lawrence of Delaware, and Bootsie Sly of Baltimore.

Visitation will be 1-2 p.m. today at Old Galatia Church in Norfork with the services beginning at 2 p.m. Rev. Donnie Speaks will officaiate. Burial will be at Galatia Cemetery in Norfork with arrangemnts by Roller Funeral Home of Mountain Home.

Pallbearers include Jimmy Simpson, Ritchie Olsen, Keith Chism, Rodney Buck, Jason Devors and Johnny Mayfield. Honorary pallbearers include Joe Bereczky, Bob Pilger, Stan Chism and Marty Killian.
