Former Rogers Man
Shot in Kansas City

KANSAS CITY, Kan. (UPI) ---
Police activated a special squad Saturday to investigate the deaths of a man and woman found shot to death Friday.

Officers said they had no motive for the killing and said no suspects were in custody. One of the victims was identified as Dewayne Jones, 43. The identity of the other victim, a 43 year old woman, was not released pending notification of relatives.

A member of the 28-member Metro Squad said both victims had been shot in the head and said they had been dead several days before they were discovered by a neighbor late Friday. An autopsy was performed on the bodies Saturday.

Lt. Gary Chancellor said the man and woman were lying on the floor "head to head". Police said nothing appeared to have been taken from the house in which the bodies were found.

He was born Feb. 5, 1934, in Arkansas City, Kan., the son of Raymond Ferrell and Florence Blenz Jones. He was a member of the Baptist Church, moved to Rogers in 1971, and worked as a mechanic and service station attendant at Don's 66 in Rogers before moving to Kansas City.

Survivors are two sons, David Jones of Wichita, Kan., and "Butch" Jones of Anchorage, Alaska; one sister, Mrs. Don (Martha) Crawford of Rogers; one niece, Linda Konert of Garfield.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Burns Funeral Home Chapel at Bentonville with the Rev. Rex Easterling officiating. Burial will be in Bentonville cemetery, under direction of Burns.
