Mrs. J. C. Bievins

Mrs. J. C. Blevins was born in Tennessee September 18, 1839, and died November 15, being more than 87 years old. At the age of 13 her parents moved with her to Benton County, Arkansas, where she was married in 1860, and has ever since lived in or near Bentonville. She was the mother of two children, Mrs. James Holcomb and Albert Blevins.

In 1860 at the age of 21 she was converted to Christ at Woods Camp Ground, under the preaching of Mai Earls, and joined the Baptist denomination, being a member of Bentonville Baptist Church at the time of her death. She was a noble woman, one of the old-time mothers, a humble devout Christian for 66 years. She was loyal to Christ and faithful to her church, living what she professed.

The funeral services were held at the home of her daughter, Mrs. James Holcomb, where she had made her home for some time previous to her death. The service was conducted by her pastor, the Rev. J. D. Allen, assisted by the Rev. W. C. Wheat, of the Presbyterlan church, and she was buried in the City cemetery. She leaves her daughter, Mrs. Holcomb, and her son, Albert Blevins, who lives in Bentonville, also by two sisters, Mrs. Dave Foster, who lives in Bentonville, and Mrs. Rachel Ford of Rogers and one brother, M. A. Jeffries, who lives in Nebraska, seven grand children, 10 great-grand children and a host of friends to mourn her going.

"Blessed are the dead who die in the Lord; yea saith the Spirit, they rest from their labors, and their works do follow them."
