J. K. WOLF (VETERAN CSA)

J. K. Wolf Cemetery
Madison County,
Arkansas

J. K. Wolf, Departed this Life February 1, 1862. This stone stands about 3 feet high and is about 3 feet across. Over the past ten years The Madison County Historical Society has searched to find information about J. K. Wolf...but have been unable to find anything out about him. His grave is located in the edge of a hayfield, in a grove of trees. There are two other fieldstones, which we believe might also mark graves. J. K. Wolf died 1 Feb 1862, during the Civil War. Some people say he was a Confederate Captain. Just about 1/10 of a mile from the grave is a huge spring which was the winter quarters of the 14th Regiment of the Confederate Infantry, commanded by Colonel William C. Mitchell. Evidently J. K. Wolf was an important person, based on the size and quality of his tombstone. If anyone knows anything about Mr. Wolf, please contact me.
