GUARD OF PRES. LINCOLN DIES IN BENTONVILLE

BENTONVILLE. Aug. 25--Samuel Lynn, aged 80, one of the most picturesque of all the old timers, was laid to rest here Thursday evening. He was the father of Joseph Lynn, a Federal student at the University of Arkansas.

Mr. Lynn was a Union veteran of the Cival Was and at the closing period of the was was a special messinger between Grant and president Lincoln. He was one of Lincoln's guards and was guarding the front of the theater in Washington when the president was assissinated.
