Son of William R. and Nancy Hamilton.

Note: He claimed to be 108 years of age, and his obituary listed his birthdate as March 1, 1833. However, he was recorded with his parents and siblings in the 1850 and 1860 censuses of Izard County, Arkansas. In the 1850 census, he was listed as 3 years of age, and in the 1860 census, he was listed as 12 years of age. That would indicate that he was actually born around 1847 and that he was actually around 94 years old when he died.
