ANDIS, James E. - James E. Andis, who lived southeast of Bentonville, died at the Young hospital Saturday morning, July 13, 1929 following an illness of some time. He was 68 years of age and had been a resident of this section for a number of years. Funeral services were held at the Nazarene Church Monday morning, the services being conducted by his pastor, Rev. C.C. Cluck. Burial was made in the cemetery at Oakley Chapel. Mr. Andis was born December 7, 1860 in Greenfield, Indiana where he grew to manhood. He was married to Miss Mary L. Smith of that city August 17, 1885. To this union eight children, seven daughters and a son were born. One daughter passed away four years ago. Mr. Andis came with his family to Bentonville in 1921 and bought a farm southeast of Bentonville which has since been the family home. He was converted during a revival at the Friends' Church in Fowler, Kansas in 1913. He united with the Church of the Nazarene shortly after coming to this place and led an earnest Christian life to the end. Surviving are his widow, a son, Albert Andis of Cleveland, Ohio and six daughters, Misses Maud and Jessie of the home address, Mrs. Cora Culver of Bentonville, Mrs. Ruby L. Moore, Joplin, Mrs. Mary Carr and Mrs. Edith Schoonover of Liberal, Kansas.

ANDIS, Mary - Mrs. Mary Andis, widow of the late James Andis, died at her home on West Ninth street, Bentonville, last Friday night following an illness of three weeks. She was 62 years of age. Funeral services were held Saturday, conducted by the Rev. W.O. Felts, pastor of the Nazarene church. Burial was made in the Oakley Chapel cemetery. Mrs. Andis was born Nov. 17, 1862 in Strasburg, Penn. When ten years old her parents moved to Greenfield, Ind. where she later met and married James Andis. In 1921 the family moved to Bentonville and located on a farm southeast of town. Following Mr. Andis' death last year Mrs. Andis and her two daughters moved into town. She was a member of the Nazarene church. Surviving her are six daughters and a son, all said to be living in Kansas with the exception of Miss Maude and Miss Jessie Andis of the home.
