Daniel Tollett was the son of Mark and Cynthia Rilla Hooper Tollett. He was born in Jasper, Marion, Tennessee. He married Rutha Rebecca Dossey (1822-1855) in 1840. He then married his half niece, Margaret Tollett (1841-1917) in 1857. Daniel had 18 children - seven with Rutha and eleven with Margaret. Daniel was the grandson of John Tollett, early Arkansas Methodist preacher who was one of the founders of the Ebenezer Campground near Center Point, Hempstead (now Howard) County, Arkansas around 1822. Daniel died near Dierks, Howard, Arkansas and is buried at the Fellowship Cemetery near Dierks.
