Graveside services for Virginia P. Wood of Norfork will be at 2PM today at Brunt Schoolhouse Cemetery with Bro. Donald Nozar officiating. Mrs. Wood died Saturday (Oct 18, 1997) at Baxter County Regional Hospital. She was 76.
Pallbearers will be Morrell Wood, George Dilbeck, Bill Hines, Bill Edgin, Charlie White and Howard Casteel.
A lifetime area resident Mrs. Wood was born March 31, 1921, at Zinc, a daughter of the late W.B. and Alice Trimble Patterson. She and Garland Leroy Wood were married Feb 12, 1939, at Culp. She worked as a nurses's aide. Mrs. Wood was a Baptist.
She is survived by her husband, Garland Wood of the home; a son Charles Garland Wood of Conway; two daughters, Nedra Houchins of Ontario, Canada and Sandra McPeak of Monahans, TX; a half brother Bascomb Patterson of California; three grandchildren, Chris Randolph of Monahans, TX, Derrick Gray of Fort Riley, KS and LaNae Houchins of Midland, TX; two great grandchildren Jordan Gray and Morgan Gray, both of Fort Riley, KS; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and a half sister.
