Ruben 'Mac' Hurst of Yellville died Sunday (May 4, 1997) at Baxter Regional Hospital. He was 72.
A lifetime resident of Marion County he was a ferry boat pilot for the Arkansas Highway and Transprotation Department.
Born Feb 18, 1925, at West Pains, MO he was the son of Grant and Tishie Collins Hurst. He and Colleen White were married June 18, 1946, at Mt. Home. He was a member of the Chuch of Christ and a US Army veteran of World War II.
He is survived by four sons, Clifford Hurst of Norfork, James Hurst of Summit, David Hurst of Pittsfield, Maine, and Timothy Hurst of Yellville; two daughters, Linda Wells of Yellville and Sue Hurst of Norfork; two brothers, Rudolph Hurst of Independence, MO and Donald Hurst of Norfork; one sister Nancy Alongis of Chattahoochee, FL; a close friend, Flora Chism of Calico Rock; 11 grandchildren, five great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Services will be at 10AM today at the Lone Rock Baptist Chruch with the Rev Carol Johnson officiating. Burial will be in the Brunt School House Cemetery in Norfork.
Military graveside services will be conducted by the North Arkansas Veterans Council with the Alley White American Legion Post as honor guard.
Pallbearers will be Kelly Hurst, Heath Hurst, Bill Sheehan, Ronnie White, Donald White and Lynns Rand. Hornorary pallbearers will be R.L. Henderson, Charlie White and Dale Chapman.
