Marlar Cemetery

The Marlar Family Cemetery is located on Highway 215 as you leave Mulberry going North it is on the right just before the I-40 overpass, it is on private property and is maintained by the property owners.

A little History of the Cemetery as printed in the book 'History In Headstones" written by Doris Stevenson West and Susan Stevenson Swinburn printed in 1970 by the Press-Argus.

The cemetery is named for Thomas W. Marlar, who was born in 1835 in Fayette County, Tenn. to James and Catherine Marlar. He married first, Susan Wagner in 1859. They had six children. His second wife was Gertrude Remy. They were married in 1877 and were parents of four children. He was a stock raiser and land owner of 550 acres of bottom land at Mulberry. He organized a company of men from Franklin and Crawford County to fight for the Confederacy during the Civil War. He was made Captain of the group.
