January 17, 1882 - May 1, 1964
F. L. Dumas, 82, of 1209 N. College St. died Friday afternoon in a local hospital following a long illness. Mr. Dumas was born Jan. 17, 1882 in El Dorado and was the son of Mild D. and Frances Slaughter Dumas. He was a member of the First Baptist Church and established the Dumas Packing Co., over 50 years ago. Mr. Dumas had also been in sawmill and oil business in Union County for many years. Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Delva Sands Dumas of El Dorado; two sons, Clifford Dumas and Victor Dumas, both of El Dorado; two brothers, John M. Dumas and Joe Henry Dumas, both of El Dorado; a granddaughter, Miss Mary Ellen Dumas of Shreveport; and a grandson, Van Dumas of El Dorado. Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Saturday in the chapel of Pratt Funeral Home with Dr. Don Harbuck and Dr. Kenneth Snipes officiating. Burial will follow in Arlington Cemetery under direction of Pratt Funeral Home. Pallbearers will be Herbert Dumas, Ellis Dumas, Ralph Dumas, Dick Dumas, Alford Dumas and Elmer Dumas.
